". . . moved the heavy piano to my apartment on the second floor without a single dent or scratch in the most efficient, timely way possible. I seriously have no idea how Kevin and his team are able to do it, it's quite literally magic with how they maneuvered through the turn with such a large and wide instrument."

★★★★★

Piano Movers FAQ

How much does it cost to move a piano?

Our rates are based on the individual job. The reason for this is to keep all things simple and fair for you – no complex formulas hiding extra fees or other surprises.

If you have a small upright piano that is going to be moved 2 blocks, we would not charge you the same amount as someone moving a grand piano 40 miles!

A few of the factors that can affect our pricing are:

  • The distance of the move
  • If the piano is going up or down stairs
  • The size/style of the piano
  • The difficulty of the layout of the property (hallways, basements, etc…)

If you have any questions about us, please call us or email us at Kevin@KevinsPianoMovers.com and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.

When can you move my piano?

80% of time, within a few days, but it may take up to a week.

Where do you move to/from?

Kevin’s Piano Moving serves all of the Chicagoland area including Wilmette, Winnetka, Kenilworth, Glencoe, Evanston, Elgin, Northbrook, Barrington, Palatine, Glenview, Schaumburg, Morton grove, Long Grove, Antioch, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Northbrook, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Palatine, Rosemont, South Elgin, Skokie, Chicago, Waukegan, Kenosha WIsconsin, Grayslake, Lake Forest and more!

In short: the entire Chicagoland area, including greater Milwaukee! Call for info.

Do you move all types of pianos?

Yes! All styles of uprights and grand pianos—digital pianos too.

Do piano movers charge for mileage?

Kevin’s does not. While other piano movers may charge for far moves, we regularly deliver all over the greater Chicago-Milwaukee area.

Do I need insurance?

No. We are fully insured from pick up to drop off.

Will I need to tune my piano after moving it?

Not usually. Pianos only acclimate noticeably when the humidity/climates between two locations are drastic. This isn’t typically the case when moving to a new home a few cities over.

If you tune your piano regularly (ie. at least yearly) and move it into a humidity-controlled room, you can continue tuning it per usual.

If it’s been a few years since your last tuning or you notice your piano sounding out-of-tune, wait three weeks before calling a tuner.
